Dear Viewer,

Welcome to Grounded: A Journal of Literature and Art! Inside this inaugural issue is a culmination of effort in literary and artistic exellence, ranging from poetry and nonfiction essays to photography and painting. Stemming from the classroom of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, Claudia Emerson, Grounded is a student-created online endeavor aiming to showcase work from new and upcoming artists. We, the editorial staff of Grounded, invite you to peruse our collections of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction work as well as our showcased artwork from prominent coffee artists Andrew Saur and Angel Sarkela-Saur and others. Also, be sure to check out the Fresh Brew section to preview the special features of the issue, or just wander through the art galleries.
