The staff of Grounded is made up of four students interested in exploring the world of online publishing. We have created an online literary journal under the direction of Claudia Emerson at the University of Mary Washington. Our semester-long journey began in January when we became acquainted with a variety of previously established literary magazines. We began to brainstorm ideas for the look of our online magazine and also started to solicit submissions from a variety of sources. As an entire staff we reviewed and selected submissions and worked on putting the website together.

Our mission statement: Grounded, a journal of literature and art, aims to publish exemplary upcoming and aspiring writers in the genres of poetry, prose and creative artwork.

There are a few parties to whom we would like to extend our thanks:

-Claudia Emerson, for her guidance and help throughout the publishing process

-Jim Groom, for spending his valuable time assisting with the technical side of the site

-Everyone who submitted their work for consideration in the inaugural issue of Grounded
